FAQs

Questions people ask before choosing an accountant

How much does an accountant cost in Peterborough?

Our fees are fixed and agreed before we start. The price depends on the services you need and the size of your business, so we give you a written quote after a free consultation. There are no hourly charges or surprise bills.

Do you only work with businesses in Peterborough?

No. Our office is at Thorpe Wood in Peterborough, and we look after clients across Cambridgeshire, Rutland and South Lincolnshire. Because we work in the cloud with Xero, we can also support clients anywhere in the UK by phone and video call.

Can you help me switch from my current accountant?

Yes. Once you sign up, we contact your previous accountant for your records and set up our HMRC authorisation. You don't need to have a difficult conversation or chase any paperwork.

Do I need Making Tax Digital for Income Tax?

If you're self-employed or a landlord and your qualifying income is over £50,000, you need to keep digital records and send HMRC quarterly updates from April 2026. The threshold drops to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. We can check whether it applies to you and handle the submissions.

Should I become a limited company?

It depends on your profits, how you want to pay yourself and your plans for the business. We'll compare your tax as a sole trader and as a limited company so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.

Can you do my self assessment tax return?

Yes. We prepare and file Self Assessment returns for sole traders, landlords, company directors and anyone with income outside PAYE. The online deadline is 31 January after the end of the tax year.
